Altered Shoe

Since being in an altered shoe swap last year, I ended up with an extra shoe.  So I decided this one had to be altered too. It was decorated using small bits of paper made in an Anne Bagby class.  The shoe began as a taupe color and I used a pink glaze over the surface once the papers were in place.  Three coats of  varnish were used for a very glossy finish.  The flower is handmade using painted muslin.  Fun!

Painted Bar Stool

Our school is having an auction tomorrow night and I always enjoy helping some of the first graders with their class project for the event.  Over the years, a bar stool has often been the project for this class as it is this year.  I love decorating wood and I really like the "four seasons" theme selected by the teacher so this was really fun.

This is a side view and I hope the detail comes through; these pics were taken with my Blackberry as a last minute thought.  A Wordsworth stencil was used for the letters.

Nuts on the Go Journal

I've looked at this box all week and knew I had to make something using it.  When a travel journal came to mind, I knew just the images I had to use.

The first thing I did was to lightly sand much of the design away, allowing the "Nuts on the Go" message to stand out.  An oak color waterbased stain was used over the sanded surface.

This image from Rock Candy Studios is perfect for the journal.  "Monkey Boys" is from their Manly Man Collage CD.  They definitely look like 'nuts on the go'.

From Rock Candy's Ephemera Collage CD, I printed several images to add to the cover.  The nameplate is also from their metal wares.

Black pencil marks were used to emphasize the images and edges of the book.  A russet red paper covers the inside of the journal  and  the edges were sewn with a zigzag stitch for more detail.  The twenty page journal was bound using the Zutter and is ready to use.

Spring is Coming!

I like the way these inchies turned out for a swap with Yahoo group, Christianpaperartists.  The image is a section from Hampton Art Stamps' Paris Moments stamp.  Stazon Black ink as well as Brilliance pearlescent lavender was used.  Images were colored with pencils and a little sewing was used to add a bit of interest.

Cleaning House - A Give-Away

I've been stamping for many years and I've accumulated so many stamps and supplies along the way.   I've decided to do random give-aways (along with ebay sales) in order to make a path in my art space.  This is the first give-away.  If you like 'cute', this is a stamp for you.  Just leave a comment and I will use a number generator to pick the winner next Saturday.  Thanks for stopping by my blog; check out the art and check back for more give-aways in the future.  (Stamp by Azadi Earles)
