Free Image Sheet

I made altered playing cards using Altered Pages' Vintage Babies image sheet.  Each card was prepped by sanding the glossy coating from the face of the card leaving corners visible. A light coat of antique white acrylic was applied. Two types of shelf liner were used to create a grid pattern on the cards using either red or pink acrylic paint. Using gel medium, a piece of vintage dictionary page was layered onto each card before adding images from the Vintage Babies collage sheet. Distress ink and Golden glazes were used to add depth of color. A checkered-pattern stencil was used on each card to further coordinate the five cards. Once dry, a sewing machine was used to zigzag stitch around parts of the images. Stamps were used on some of the cards and embellishments were added using Beacon 527 glue. A thimble was dipped into the antique white paint and a circle was stamped around a word on each card. Red acrylic was dabbed around the border of the cards using a cosmetic sponge. Black dots were added for a final touch using the end of a paint brush dipped in black acrylic paint. The box was altered following the same directions.

Jackie at alteredpages.com will give you a free image sheet if you'll send her an email at pokieokie@cox.net.  Please put "Dianne Adams' blog" in your subject line.....that's all you have to do!

we're in this together

The busyness of summer seems to be crowding out my art time.  I found a few minutes here and there for art today and created "we're in this together".  Acrylic paint was used to create layers of texture on the 6"x9" canvas.  Shades of green, blue, beige and brown were used along with vintage text and buttons.  Hoping for more art time soon...

Little Puppies

Clarissa and I took advantage of the great sale at Plaza Art and picked up several stretched canvases last weekend.  I really like the 4 X 12 size and finally had some time last night to try one out.  The girl and puppies is from Rock Candy Studios' Girly Girls image CD.  I resized her to just over 9" tall and the quality was not affected at all.  Acrylic paints, stamps and stencils were used to create the piece.  Later!

Monochromatic Red ATC

ChristianPaperArtists is having a Monochromatic Red ATC swap and this is my completed card.  I used printed cardstock and added Golden's bright red glaze.  Layers of paint were stenciled on and then the painted piece was mounted to red cardstock.  I used a sewing machine to make the holes around the border and then finished the edges with handsewing.  The text was typed using my antique typewriter...mostly due to the fact that my computer was down and I couldn't print anything.  A punched heart was paper embossed using a Cuttlebug folder.  All the elements were mounted and then outlined with a burgundy gel pen.   This was the last of the swaps I'm signed up for so I'm off to look for another swap or two.  Know of any good ones?
