The Altered Pages design team participated in the challenges this month at Gingersnap Creations and it's been fun. The final challenge was "3 words, 3 papers, and 3 buttons". Here's what I submitted:
After submitting, I decided the piece didn't look quite finished so I added a half circle to the rosette and a touch of distress ink...a bit of an improvement. The image is from Altered Pages' #1855D Beauty in Blue Collage Sheet.
The base is a 1.5" thick wood block painted ivory and sanded a bit to give an aged look.
Tennessee is hot, hot, hot but Clarissa and I braved the heat and went to Nashville one day this week and did a little exploring. Our favorite shop by far was Pangaea. I picked up this little cabinet for my art room. It's all metal and the drawers are just a little larger than a spice tin. I have no clue what I'm putting in it but I had to have it.
This week the challenge at Gingersnap Creations is to use packing materials in your work. I used an image from Altered Pages 'Bits and Pieces I' collage sheet to make a packing tape transfer. I lightly stamped a pattern on the right side using a piece of diamond shaped bubble wrap. The bubble wrap was given to me at a workshop and I'd love to find more. So far I haven't had any luck.
This page that also features scrap papers and fabric as well as machine stitching can be used in an altered book or as a journal page. Fun project!
I had some time on Saturday to play with paint and deli wrap. Here's a few photos to share:
This is such a relaxing project..I should do it more often. I made several other sheets but failed to take photos before dropping them off at the post office. Hopefully they'll make their way to their new home later this week:)
I made a pamphlet stitch fabric book perfect for taking to the mall. It's ideal for your shopping lists, record of sizes and other helpful information you might need while shopping. The image is from Altered Pages and is found on collage sheet #1592D - Pretty Patterns.
